Fashion Evolution Through The Academy of Art University’s NYFW Display

Every year fashion designers, students, buyers and enthusiasts gather in New York City for Fashion Week. Designers create pieces and wardrobes for this week and spend all year brain storming and getting their ducks in a row. After Fashion Week ends, this is when you will see new names come up and hit the fashion scene. The Academy of Art University has a number of students, designers and graduates that come to NYC for Fashion Week and this year was no different. A number of impressive ensembles were displayed and some really notable guests sat in on the runway show featuring The Academy of Art University’s designs at the infamous Skylight Clarkson Square venue to see these creations including Ms J Alexander from Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model fame.


At this year’s fashion week show five women’s outfits were showcased along with two men’s outfits as well as two collaborations featuring both men and women’s attire. The styles were very unique and featured some of the latest fashion trends that have recently been seen on other runways all over the world in the past few months. Ten recent graduates from the Academy of Art University designed and showed what their BFA and MFA degrees brought to the table. This school educates students from all over the world including students from China and students from all over the United States. This year’s show was on September 9, 2017 and the crowd was as amazed as previous years.


There are many notable fashion schools that are in the United States as well as others all over the world but the Academy of Art University is different and stands out thanks to its diverse demographic of students. All walks of life contribute their passion of fashion and work together to make shows like the Fashion Week show something to remember. This year’s show was approximately fifteen minutes in length with back to back models. It took all year to prepare this show and it will be a focus for many students and graduates for the next twelve months as well.
